    IAESTE is a global network of representatives, students, and companies aiming to provide students in higher education with technical experience relevant to their studies, offering employers well-qualified and motivated trainees, and being a source of cultural enrichment for trainees and their host communities. IAESTE operates irrespective of race, color, sex or creed. Students from College of Engineering and Science Departments of College of Arts and Sciences are eligible to participate in IAESTE internships.

    There are two ways of getting IAESTE service: Reserved Internships (Rezerve İşlemler) Students who have obtained internship by themselves or through a Faculty member, can process their visa application through the IAESTE Turkey office.

    IAESTE Internships

    IAESTE Internships for Turkish students are exchanged each January by the IAESTE Turkey office during a global IAESTE conference abroad.

    In order to get internships, each university is required to contribute to finding local internships for foreign students. The different roles the student organization and the IAESTE representative take to fulfill this requirement can briefly explained as:

    Student organization is active for finding local internships to be exchanged by the Turkish delegation, hosting some of foreign IAESTE students coming to Istanbul. IAESTE representative is responsible for offering guidance to the IAESTE student organization, overseeing the selection of students for an IAESTE internship.

    AIESEC provides 3 different types of exchange experiences: business management positions, technical positions or development sector work. Typically, AIESEC have traineeships lasting from 8 weeks to 18 months.

    AIESEC takes applications for each of the traineeship programs at the beginning of Fall and Spring semesters at Koç University by opening a stand at Student Center. You may direct your questions to the representative at the AIESEC stand or the local AIESEC office

    Management Traineeships: By participating in this type of traineeship, you will have the opportunity to work in a company, NGO, government, university or other organization and will spend the majority of your time working in areas related to management. These areas may include finance, accounting, marketing, project management, organizational management or human resources. To enhance your experience, you will have the opportunity to get involved in local community issues and activities.

    Technical Traineeships: By participating in this type of traineeship, you will have the opportunity to work in a company, NGO, government, university or organization and will spend the majority of your time working on information technology projects. Technical skills, experience and expertise are required to participate in this type of traineeship. These are some of the job descriptions which trainees can choose from – in small businesses or large corporations:

    Programming work Many of the companies taking AIESEC trainees need people with specific skills for a software development project. In addition to the programming itself, jobs like this often involve working with a team of programmers and managing a project.

    Network maintenance & system operation Another typical job is setting up, maintaining and operating computer networks and systems. The work often includes assessing the needs of the company and planning the information systems.

    Helpdesk functions AIESEC trainees are often employed as experts helping company personnel with information technologies they may be unfamiliar with. Apart from good technical knowledge, these jobs also require good consultation and social skills.

    Development Traineeships: By participating in this type of traineeship, you will have the opportunity to work in a company, NGO, government, university or organization and will spend the majority of your time working on development issues in a community. Students gain skills and experience in development-related issues, community issues, management and cultural adaptability to name just a few. Through Development Traineeship AIESEC aims to:

    Create opportunities for young individuals to become more socially responsible and conscious of development issues through direct exposure to development and cultural issues in developing countries Facilitate the opportunity for NGOs to develop their capacity nationally and internationally from the skills and experience the international trainee brings into their organization.

    Application Form

    Sign-up at the AIESEC stand or contact your local AIESEC office to submit an application form. You then will take the first step of the elimination process, including the written language test, of those you have selected among 5 languages (English, German, French, Italian and Spanish). If you qualify from the first step of the elimination process, you will be required to attend an assessment center in order to complete a review process.

    Review Process

    AIESEC conducts Review Boards where applicants are screened for suitability for AIESEC’s Exchange Program me. Review Boards usually consist of academic representatives, members of the local business community, and AIESEC members. Based on passing the Review Board your application will then be entered into the global matching system where traineeship and student applications are matched. Your local AIESEC representative will provide communication with you regarding this process.

    Remarks

    You will be required to pay an application fee to AIESEC to participate in the Exchange Programme. Depending on your preferences the matching process may take anywhere up to 6 months. Applicants that have more flexible preferences for where they would like to work and what type of position are more likely to be matched with a suitable traineeship sooner.
